we can dig it
HOLY SHIT. This episode kicked my ass. Spoilers for Breaking Point, yadda yadda yadda.
-Hee. Jack's slow-mo death stare at Lindsey was so great. That assmonkey is TOAST.
-Poor Syd. Come on guuuyyys, she's not a criminal! Well, maybe a little. But man, those NSC guys are just big meanies. All the stuff with Campbell i kept thinking of XF (Unruhe! I still remember the old days!) but yeah, i totally fell for the good guy act. SHOCKING I TELL YOU. And that was the same way they tried to get to her in Spirit ("Threat to colleague is a fundamental interrogation technique. Sydney in particular... Yes. I think that she will respond.") Craziness.
-EEEE!! JACK! AND VAUGHN! Yeah. Looking so very hot. This is why i loved the episode. So, so awesome. When they met up with Sloane, dude, i was squealing and flailing around- it wasn't pretty. But DUDE. SO. AWESOME.
-This was really not a good ep for Syd. Ouchie electrocution a la Color-Blind (the episode that also, coincidentally, had Jack and Vaughn meeting for the first time), being beaten up, emotionally blackmailed... yeesh. Give the girl a break. But DUDE. "I draw little hearts over my 'i's. Sometimes smiley faces." BWAH! That kicked so much ass. I love Syd.
-Shaft! Hee. The chess scene was so cool. Dude, Bill Vaughn. That's just awesome. And "look who's getting the band back together" made me fucking squeal. Again. SO COOL. These are the old-school spies, dude. LOVE. And then there was "Check, mate." and Jack's smirk- EEEE!!!
-Oh man, Jack's stash? Kind of frightening. But, uh, at least he's prepared, right? He may be going after Vaughn's boy scout title. Jack could be "Scout Master". Heh. Heh heh. Uhm, ANYWAY. "You're smarter than you look." !!!!!!!!!!! EEEEE!!!!!!! Oh dear GOD that was the best. And Vaughn's smiiiiile! You just know he was so proud. Tee hee. I love those boys. Immensely.
-The mission! Jack and Vaughn and Sloane working together and being all cool! That sound you just heard? That's my mind blowing. And Jack saying "Freakin' nightmare."- now on my list of funniest things ever. Of all time. EVER. I can't believe Sloane was still trying to fuck with Vaughn in the midst of all this. Well, actually, i can believe it, because Sloane's an evil bastard. But still.
-Even though Sloane getting shot was in the preview, it was still a very "Oh CRAP" moment. Guerrilla surgery- EXCELLENT. I love that Jack's always the one who cuts Sloane up. (finger choppage!) "I didn't know you wore glasses." "Only during surgery." HEE!! Just call him Dr. Bristow. And! "You're starting to like me again." EEEEEE!!!!! Have i mentioned how much i LOVE THEM? Best. in-laws. EVER. (yes, they are in-laws. YES.) It's entirely feasible that Jack only gets along with Vaughn when it serves a purpose (i.e. helping Syd), but i gotta believe he likes him. They're just too cute.
-Oh maaaan. Sloane, stop making me think you're sincere. He's evil! EVIL! But... Jack and Syd are kind of all he has left. This is so much like the SpyMommy dilemma of s2. Argh! I'm so conflicted.
-I felt bad for Lauren when Lindsey was being evil to her, and i was so rooting for her to help out when she saw Syd being beaten up. The only thing i didn't like was when she went to Vaughn to apologize and get in on the rescue action, simply because that means marriage reconciliation. Does that make me a bad person? Seriously, i like her when she's independent of being "Vaughn's wife". Geh. Surprisingly, i didn't cheer when Campbell guy hit her, because dude, he smacked her DOWN. That was just harsh. I'm glad she shot him (poor girl finally killed someone. All because of Syd. Wow, Syd just fucks up everyone's life, doesn't she?), but then, it also seemed like a "see? she totally helped out!" move. Meh. Oh well.
-Aww, Jack and Syd! They're so frickin sweet. I was watching some s1 eps this weekend, and it's STILL incredibly bizarre how much closer they are now. Back then it was all about how incredibly strained and awkward and closed-off they were (which i love, because any tiny gesture for them was so huge), and now there's this openness that's so different but so adorable. *sniff* It's yet another example of the redemption theme in all of this- there's Syd and Jack, Irina, and now Sloane (possibly), all seeking some form of atonement. And dammit, Sloane smiling at them made me confused again. Must. stop. feeling. sympathy.
When i really think about it, the episode didn't accomplish much at all, but DAMN i enjoyed it. It sucked that there was hardly any Dixon or Weiss (come on, they love Syd lots tooooo!), and what about Saaaaark? But man, it's all about the Jack/Vaughn/Sloane. Such great, fucked-up relationships in that little triangle (hee! wow, it's a good triangle for once). And whoah, that was the most Vaughn and Sloane have ever interacted. Dude. Also, nothing more than implied S/V shippiness makes me sad, but nothing more than implied Bad Triangle makes me happy.
Next week looks... fucked up. Syd/Vaughn YAY! Syd/Sloane EEWWW!! MY EYES!
Oh, and about the episodes not being available early anymore? WooHOO! Score one for the spoiler-free! I'm sorry, but i hated hearing everyone's reactions so early, because if it was bad i got prematurely anxious and upset, and if it was good i got even more impatient. Oh NO, now you have to watch the episodes on regular tv at the regular airtime, and sit through commercials! BOO HOO. Cry me a river. Ya know, some people watch ALL tv like that. The HORROR! (yeah, i'm only mildly bitter. Not that i have anything against downloading stuff, because some shows i HAVE to in order to see them at all, but watching them early just seems crappy to me.)
ETA: Okay, bad thing about no early eps? No screen caps available right away. ARGH! That's bad. Need pictures. Enjoy having pictures immediately. WANT PICTURES.
New icon, cause, hee. Bikini Kill lyrics rock, and Vaughn is pretty.
